Kalash Sthapana (Ghatasthapana)

Install a kalash filled with Gangajal, placing mango leaves and a coconut on top. This marks the beginning of Navratri and invites Goddess Durga into your home.

Set up the altar

Place an idol or image of Goddess Durga on a clean cloth. Decorate the space with flowers, diya, and rangoli if possible.

Light diya and incense

Light a diya and agarbatti to create a sacred and peaceful atmosphere.

Offer daily prayers

Offer flowers, kumkum, rice, fruits, and sweets while chanting Durga mantras or simply praying with devotion.

Observe fasting (optional)

Many devotees observe fasts during Navratri, consuming sattvic food and maintaining discipline.

Daily worship of Navdurga forms

Each day is dedicated to a different form of Goddess Durga. Devotees honor each form with prayers and offerings.

Kanya Pujan (Ashtami/Navami ritual)

On the eighth or ninth day, young girls are worshipped as forms of the Goddess and offered food and gifts.
